Local Mission Projects
There are many worthy groups caring for needy people in Nevada County. We've focused our support on several of these:
EAC (Emergency Assistance Coalition)
The Emergency Assistance Coalition provides assistance via a central telephone number (530) 272-6659 for those needing emergency food, shelter and/or gasoline. Trained volunteers assess the need and arrange for appropriate help and also identify resources for further help as needed.
EAC operates under the auspices of the Nevada County Housing Development Corporation, a non-profit developer of self-help housing, transitional living facilities, and emergency shelters. All services are free, using funds provided by the faith-based community, including local churches, private organizations, and individuals. For more information
IFM (Interfaith Food Ministry)
Organized in April 1987, IFM is a nonprofit public service corporation, dedicated to providing supplemental food to more than 600 needy families each week in western Nevada County. IFM is a 100% volunteer operation, sponsored by participating local churches which provide 500 active volunteers.
Food distribution is at the IFM building, located at 551 Whiting Street (between Empire and South Auburn Streets) in Grass Valley. Families may receive food from IFM at weekly distributions on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Bags of staples (canned food and dry products) are distributed once a month; perishables are distributed weekly. For more information
LivingWell Medical Clinic
We help support LivingWell Medical Clinic, 113 Presley Way #4-95945, Grass Valley, (530) 272-6800. The clinic provides practical help and medical care for women facing unplanned pregnancies.
Pray Nevada County
